Newsom Expected To Announce New Plans To Reopen CA

Governor Gavin Newsom is expected to announce new reopening plans this afternoon after businesses were shuttered last month as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surged across the state.

The updated guidelines are expected to be significantly different to previous plans and could help move the state closer towards “normal” this fall.

The California Restaurant Association has been asking Newsom to allow indoor dining to return, and other businesses and some local governments say they need more clarity on state rules in order to avoid confusion.

During the July surge, Newsom ordered sweeping closures of bars, gyms, hair and nail salons and indoor religious services.

The Governor will also provide an update on the many wildfires burning around the state.

His address is scheduled to begin at noon. Click here to listen live.
