Warrior's Kevin Durant Opts Out of His $31.5 Million Player Option

OAKLAND (95.7 THE GAME) — In advance of free agency officially beginning at 3pm on Sunday, Kevin Durant has turned down his option for the season to come, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Even with Durant's recent Achilles' tear, this move head been widely anticipated. By becoming a free agent, Durant is eligible to earn a five-year, $221 million deal from the Warriors. Other free agent suitors can offer the superstar forward a four-year, $164 million pact.

According to Wojnarowski, to this point, Durant and Kleiman's deliberations have "been a failry clandestine process." Durant is still weighing a return to thw Warriors, while the Knicks, Nets and Clippers are also thought to be in the mix.
