'Sonic the Hedgehog' Trailer Boosts Video Views of Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise'

Thanks to the release of the new Sonic The Hedgehog trailer, the video's featured song, 1995's "Gangsta's Paradise" received a hefty boost in video views on YouTube, according to Billboard.

Coolio's song originally was featured in the 1995 film Dangerous Minds that starred Michelle Pfeiffer. Coolio won the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance for 'Gangsta's Paradise,' that same year.

On Tuesday, YouTube reports the music video for "Gangsta's Paradise" spiked last week, reaching close to 712,000. Nielsen Music said the song had 11 million on-demand streams, giving the song 237 percent jump.

The trailer to live-action movie 'Sonic The Hedgehog' even helped "Weird Al" Yankovic's parody of "Gangsta's Paradise," which he titled "Amish Paradise" saw a 31 percent spike in on-demand streams.

Sonic The Hedgehog arrives in theaters on Novmber 8.
