San Francisco Man Arrested In Sword-Slashing Attack

April 4, 2019

A San Francisco man has been arrested in connection to the sword-slashing attack on another man in the Fillmore District last weekend, according to SFPD.

30-year-old Leor Bergland was arrested Wednesday night, accused of slashing the hand of a 27-year-old Berkeley man who had been walking in the Fillmore around 9:50 pm on Friday. An altercation ensued with the Berkeley man swatting the red hat the man identified as Bergland was wearing from his head. Bergland is said to have pulled out a sword and severely cutting into the Berkeley man's hand.

The cut-victim and a witness chased down the suspected attacker until at one point, the attacker turned and began to lunge towards the pair who in turn ended their pursuit.

San Francisco Police did not say how they found Bergland to be a suspect but took him into custody when he was seen at a restaurant at Eddy and Larkin Streets.

He was booked on several charges including aggravated assault and suspicion of attempted murder, according to SFPD.
