90’s Hip Hop star Craig Mack who gained fame with the 1994 hit "Flava In Ya Ear", reportedly died Monday night. He was 46 years old.

According to a statement from Mack’s producer to the NewYork Daily News, Craig Mack apparently died of heart failure at a Walterboro, South Carolina hospital near his home.

As Sean "Diddy" Combs' first album artist on his Bad Boy Entertainment label, it was Mack’s remix of "Flava In Ya Ear" with The Notorious B.I.G. that shot up the Billboard charts. The song peaked at #9 on the Hot 100 and was number #1 on Billboard Hot Rap Tracks in 1994. His album Project: Funk da World reached #21.

Sadly, Mack was never able to repeat the success of his signature song. In 2002, JaRule and Jennifer Lopez reworked and sampled "Flava In Ya Ear" for their hit "Ain't It Funny."

Formerly of EPMD, DJ Scratch wrote a tribute to Mack on his Instagram that said "I just got a disturbing phone call. I cannot believe this dude is gone. He just reached out a couple of weeks ago for me to speak on his documentary about his life. Because Craig was my rodie on tour. He would set up & break down my turntables every night on tour. Rest In Peace Lil Bro."

EPMD’s Erick Sermon tweeted “I’m devastated over the news of Craig Mack..  We just finishing up his new album..  smh..  Rest in Power Craig..."

Pioneering rapper Biz Markie also posted an Instagram that read "R.I.P TO MY MAIN MAN CRAIG MACK ANOTHER GREAT ONE GONE...."

DJ Funkmaster Flex posted "Rest In Peace! Good brother... #CraigMack .... Alvin Toney love my brother..."
