Fox Cuts Scene From 'The Predator' Over Actor's Background

TORONTO (AP) — Twentieth Century Fox has cut a scene from "The Predator' featuring actor Steven Wilder Striegel after learning he is a registered sex offender.

Just hours before the film was to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday, a spokesperson for Fox said Striegel's single scene in the film was removed immediately after the studio learned of Striegel's background. Fox said it wasn't aware of the actor's history because of legal imitations on running background checks on actors.

The film's director, Shane Black, has long been a friend of Striegel's and has frequently cast him in his films. Black didn't immediately comment Thursday.

The Los Angeles Times first reported the reediting of "The Predator" to remove Striegel.
