It's not often an invention revolutionizes eveyday life. Take the iPhone, for example. Thanks to Apple, cellphones are now smartphones and we cannot live without them.

Now, leggings and stockings will never be the same again, thanks to Sheerly Genius and their fashion line of rip-resistant hosiery.

Founded by innovator Katherine Homuth, Sheerly Genius began in the Bay Area, where for close to two-years, Homuth raised funds through Kickstarter and Indigogo to develop her product. The result, a line of hosiery that are not only comfortable and fashionable, but also virtually indestructible.

Homuth and her company created a rip-proof panythyose made of Sheertex, kevlar-like fibers that are similar to those found in bulletproof vests and climbing equipment. Making their hosiery a godsend for women everywhere.

"The strongest material I could think of was kevlar," Homuth tells CNBC. "Ultimately I found a fabric that was 100 denier, but was ridiculously strong."

The average pantyhose lasts for 1-2 years, Sheerly Genius' is said to last for up to 50 years.

Recently, Sheerly Genius Pantyhose was named one of Time Magazine's Best Inventions 2018 and is currently at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas where they are wowing the media.

Quite the investment but well-worth the price, Sheerly Genius Pantyhose retails for about $99 a pair and is available via their website.
