Chadwick Boseman married the love of his life prior to his passing, the actor’s family revealed.

The DailyMail reports that the“Black Panther” actor secretly wed his girlfriend Taylor Simone Ledward before his cancer advanced.

Boseman passed away at his Los Angeles home on Friday after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He was surrounded by his close family, including his wife.

“The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time,” the statement read.

According to the publication, Boseman proposed to Ledward in October of 2019. Boseman was reportedly diagnosed with cancer a year into the relationship and Ledward remained by his side.

Page Six notes they were first spotted together in 2015 following her graduation from Cal Polytechnic University Pomona in 2014.

Boseman was a private man who kept his cancer and relationship out of the public eye. However, in March 2019, he spoke out about their romance at the 50th NAACP Image Awards, stating: “Simone, you're with me every day. I have to acknowledge you right now. Love you.” She mouthed back “I love you.”

The pair were seen in attendance at many Hollywood events. Their most recent outing was at the NBA All-Star Game in Chicago in February.

Following the shocking news of his death, fellow celebrities, including his “Black Panther” cast, remembered the man who was an invincible superhero on-screen.

Angela Bassett, who played his mother in the superhero film, shared a personal story that dated back a decade prior to the film.

“This young man’s dedication was awe-inspiring, his smile contagious, his talent unreal,” Bassett wrote. “So I pay tribute to a beautiful spirit, a consummate artist, a soulful brother.”

“This Is Us” actor, Sterling Brown, who played Boseman’s uncle in the film wrote: “I don’t have words. Rest In Peace, Bruh.”

Marvel Studios wrote, “Your legacy will live on forever,” along an image of Boseman as the Black Panther.

“Chadwick’s passing is absolutely devastating,” said president/chief creative officer and “Black Panther” producer Kevin Feige.

“He was our T’Challa, our Black Panther, and our dear friend. Each time he stepped on set, he radiated charisma and joy, and each time he appeared on screen, he created something truly indelible. He embodied a lot of amazing people in his work, and nobody was better at bringing great men to life. He was as smart and kind and powerful and strong as any person he portrayed. Now he takes his place alongside them as an icon for the ages. The Marvel Studios family deeply mourns his loss, and we are grieving tonight with his family,” he added.

The “Avengers” also gathered to pay their respects.

Samuel L. Jackson mourned a “a talented & giving artist & brother who will be sorely missed.”

Chris Hemsworth wrote: “Gonna miss you mate. Absolutely heartbreaking. One of the kindest most genuine people I’ve met. Sending love and support to all the family xo RIP.”

Chris Evans, who stars as Captain America, wrote: “I’m absolutely devastated. This is beyond heartbreaking. Chadwick was special. A true original. He was a deeply committed and constantly curious artist. Few performers have such power and versatility. He had so much amazing work still left to create. I’m endlessly grateful for our friendship. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Rest in power, King.”

And fellow co-star Don Cheadle added, “i will miss you, birthday brother. you were always light and love to me. my god ...forever and ever …”
